LGBTQIA+ guidance for Sacred Man Sacred Woman

Sacred Man Sacred Woman requires a primordial polarity between the masculine and feminine energies of creation. This ritual is not about the  individual or ones sexuality. It is concerned with the deepest desire to create beauty together.

We as a community at Spirit Horse recognise and welcome all beings as one of the Goddess's glorious, varied creations, equal in value and worthy of love and respect. We know that we as humans dance far beyond only two genders, and our queer and genderqueer siblings are welcome to and included in most of our events and offerings. However, this four-day ritual, unchanged in over 30 years, is one that specifically celebrates and leans fully into the binary (and let’s be honest, cis-het) polarity that can exist between men and women, as a means to explore and deeply honour that aspect of the mystery of life. Therefore we are more prescriptive about who we welcome into the Men's and Women’s Lodges in this instance.

These guidelines are given with the hope that those who take part will be able to fully embrace and take joy in the ritual, while serving it and one-another wholeheartedly. We understand that the following guidelines exclude some of our genderqueer siblings from joining us, and we ask for your understanding about the limitations of who we feel we can hold well, and what we feel this particular ritual needs.

The Men's Lodge welcomes: cis-men; AMAB masc non-binary and intersex folks wishing to lean fully into their masculine aspect, and happy to be referred to as a man with he/him pronouns for the duration of the ritual; trans-men who have fully transitioned (including top and bottom surgery). All sexual orientations are welcome.

The Women's Lodge welcomes: cis-women; AFAB femme non-binary and intersex folks wishing to lean fully into their feminine aspect, and happy be referred to as a woman with she/her pronouns for the duration of the ritual; trans-women who have fully transitioned (including bottom surgery). All sexual orientations are welcome.
